Oak Park Announces New Mens Basketball Coach

Sherron Collins to Lead Northmen in 2023

Players and Parents attended a meeting last evening at Oak Park High School, to welcome new Men's Basketball head coach, Sherron Collins.

Sherron attended Crane H.S. Chicago, Ill as the #2 Ranked Point Guard by scout.com.  Accolades include Parade All-American, McDonalds All-American and Competed in Michael Jordan classic in 2006.

KU Sherron Collins

Coach Collins is no stranger to Kansas City natives, attending and graduating from Kansas University and helped bring the 2008 NCAA National Championship to Lawrence.  In his time a KU, Sherron earned 2X Consensus All-American, 2X All-Big 12, 2007-2008 Big 12 6th man of the year, 2010 All-Big 12 tournament team, Big 12 All-Freshman team, Big 12 Tournament MVP, Wooden award finalist (1 of 4) and in 2010 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, which recognizes a senior male basketball player 6 ft and shorter, who excel in both academics and athletics.

Collins took his career Pro, signing as an un-drafted free agent with the Charlotte Bobcats in 2010, and the Turkish Basketball league in 2011.

Coach Collins is coming to Oak Park after serving as the Head Coach of Lawrence Free State boys basketball for the 2022-23 season posting an 11-10 record for the Firebirds in his inaugural season.
