Oak Park High School had a new face on the court this week, as senior guard Howie Chase appeared in his first official game for the Northmen. Although this was his debut, Chase wasted no time making an impact on both ends of the court.
Chase finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals, flashing the kind of energy and hustle that has drawn praise from coaches since preseason. The most prominent was his presence on the court; he disrupted passing lanes, put steady pressure on the offense, and helped force several fast-break opportunities.
On offense, Chase showed confidence and poise, knocking down his shots and moving the ball well within the team's system. His 4 rebounds were impressive for a guard and demonstrated his willingness to battle and contribute where needed.
But while it's still early in his high school career, Howie Chase's emergence indicates that he'll be one to watch this year. With his strong work ethic and all-around game, he's already proving to be a valuable addition to the Oak Park lineup.
