Cheer Nationals: Interview

Over the course of the weekend the Oak Park Cheerleading team traveled to Dallas, Texas to compete at Nationals on January 21st and 22nd. The Northmen cheer team took home 4th place in the Advanced Coed Large Varsity Crowd Performance division.

Q: "How would you say the competition went overall?"

Madison: "I think it went well under the circumstances of injuries and sickness, I think the team did a great job at pushing through and finishing the last competition of the season strong. "

Q: "What was your guy's favorite part of the routine you performed?"

Elijah: "The one-man stunts because they are the most active."

Madison: "My favorite stunt was the Elite. It is an assisted back flip going into a full up lib, pulling an arabesque and a full down dismount."

Q: "What was your favorite part of the entire trip?"

Elijah: "Getting closer with the team, creating closer bonds, and getting the moment of competing at nationals again."

Madison: "I would have to completely agree."

Q: "What teammate do you think showed out more than expected for this competition?"

Madison: "Riley Chapin. I think the energy she brought on to the mat was very beneficial to our team."

Q: "How was the flight?"

Elijah: "We had to get there at 4am to meet up and it was tiring but it was exciting because we had a whole day to do whatever once we got to Texas."

Q: "How do you think the team has grown?"

Madison: "I think we've come a long way over my 4 years. We are by far one of the best teams in Oak Park Cheer history. Our difficulty level in the things we do are higher than they have been in the past. I couldn't be prouder of how far this program has grown and how it will continue to grow for years to come."
