Senior Lili Everley has officially broken the all time rebounding record, cementing her legacy as one of the most dominant players to ever wear the Oak Park jersey. This week, we celebrate her as our Competitor of the Week for her dedication and commitment to the game.
Lili's love for basketball started back in sixth grade when she played on a small travel team, later continuing on her middle school squad. Although soccer was her primary sport, she joined the high school basketball team as a freshman, seeking new friendships and a fresh challenge. That decision turned into something much bigger, a second family.
"The thing I most enjoy about basketball is my teammates," Lili shared. "We are super close, and even during the hardest practices, we make it fun. We just really enjoy being around each other."
While Lili thrives on the team's camaraderie, she knows that basketball isn't just about the good moments. The most difficult part, she says, is staying mentally strong during high intensity situations.
"Sometimes your shot isn't falling, or you aren't having a great game, but you have to stay tough and do whatever you can for your team," she said.
That mental toughness, combined with her experience and leadership, makes Lili Everley an invaluable part of the team. Whether she's making plays on the court or lifting up her teammates, she exemplifies the spirit of a true competitor. Congratulations, Lili!
