After a few rough weeks for the Oakies who struggled to find ways to win they were ready to get things rolling in the 13
th annual Oak Park Invitational Tournament.
(1/10/22) In the first round the Oakies were up against William Chrisman. The game started off pretty slow for both teams but with a few clutch shots by '24
Kaylee Coleman the Oakies had a 9-5 lead after the first. Heading into the second quarter the Oakies stepped up their defense and held Chrisman to only 4 points. '22
Rylan Bishop hit a couple nice shots and the Oakies were leading 17-9 at the half. In the third quarter Chrisman was able to knock down some more shots and stepped up their defense but the Oakies still found a way to execute offense. In the fourth quarter the Oakies solidified their lead and took the win 51-32. '22

Kaylee Coleman with 14 points. The Oakies advanced and would face Blue Springs the following day for a chance to play in the Championship game Thursday night (1/13/22)
(1/11/22) Heading into game two the Oakies knew they would have to step it up against a very good Blue Springs team. The game started off slow for the Oakies as they faced a lot of pressure from Blue Springs. Luckily the Oakies were playing lock down defense and only found themselves down 3-6 after the first quarter. In the second the Oakies were able to handle the Wildcats pressure better and execute some offense. '22
Rylan Bishop was able to find a way to hit some much-needed shots, but the Oakies struggled to stop the Wildcats quick drive offense and found themselves down 9-16 at half time. Heading into the third and fourth quarter the Oakies knew they were going to have to step it up if they were going to come out on top. Unfortunately, the Oakies were unable to stop Blue Springs electric offense lost in a tough one 26-49. '22
Rylan Bishop was the leading scorer on the night with 12 points. With one win and one loss in the tournament the Oakies are set to play against Lincoln Prep Thursday evening at 5pm.
(1/13/22) In the third-place matchup against Lincoln Prep the Oakies were ready for a good game. The Oakies started off slow against Lincoln Prep's very quick press defense and Lincoln Prep went on a 10-0 run to begin the game. The Oakies battled back but still found themselves down 7-17 after the first quarter. In the second, Oak Park settled down and handled the press better and were able to get some in the paint finishes by '22

Alexis Platz. At halftime the Oakies were down 15-25 and knew they were going to need to step it up if they were going to come back and win this game. The Oakies stepped up on defense and got a few critical stops but struggled to finish on the offensive end and were down 25-36 heading into the fourth. As Lincoln Prep began to get tired the Oakies were able to capitalize and get some offense going but it wouldn't be enough as they simply ran out of time. The final score being 36-47 and the Oakies taking fourth place in the tournament. '22
Rylan Bishop and '25 Delaney Harbrucker were the leading scorers on the night with 10 points apiece. The Oakies will play in a big conference game against Lee's Summit next Thursday (1/20) at Oak Park.
Oak Park hosts Lee's Summit at 6:00pm tonight at Oak Park High School.
