Oak Park vs Kansas City Central (12/2):
The Lady Oakies traveled to Kansas City Central last Thursday and put on a performance that didn't disappoint. '23 Lexi Wilhoite started the game with a quick transition lay-up to get the night started for the Oakies. It was a fast-paced game, but the Oakies found themselves only up by 2 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Oakies were still struggling to get some momentum going. '22
Lynsie Bishop was able to hit a few transition shots and layups while '22
Rylan Bishop hit some big free throws to try and get a lead. The Oakies struggled defensively in the first half and found themselves down 25-26 at the half.
In the third quarter the Oakies were able to get some offense running and had some big in the paint finishes from 23' Lexi Wilhoite and 23'
Amari Harris. The Oakies went on to score 22 points in the third quarter and took the lead 47-36.
In the fourth quarter the Oakies continued to extend their lead. They outscored Central 18-4 in the fourth and took the win 65-40.

Rylan Bishop was the leading scorer on the night with 18 points.
This put the Oakies at 3-0 on the season and they were ready to keep it going as they hosted Van Horn the following Monday night.
Oak Park vs Van Horn (12/6):
On Monday night, the Lady Oakies looked to continue their winning streak as they hosted Van Horn.
The game started off quick with a lot of pressure from Van Horn's defense, and the Oakies found themselves down 14-9 in the first.
In the second quarter the Oakies handled Van Horn's quick pressure better and were able to get some scores. 25' Lili Everley had some clutch finishes in the paint and the Oakies found themselves leading 21-20 heading into half time.
All season we've seen the Oakies have a new fire heading into the second half and against Van Horn we saw just that. '22
Rylan Bishop and '22
Lynsie Bishop were able to find ways to get to the basket and hit crucial shots. They had a combined 15 points in the third quarter and extended their lead 36-35 heading into the fourth.
The Oakies stepped up and played incredible defense getting multiple deflections and important rebounds. They held Van Horn to only 8 points while the Oakies were able to put up 17 points and take the big win 53-43. '22
Rylan Bishop was the leading scorer of the night with an impressive 24 points. 20 of those 24 points came in the second half, when asked what she saw to get things going after half time she said,
"I knew after the half only being up by 1 it was going to be a fight so I was just doing whatever I could to get the ball in my hands and start scoring."
After this impressive performance by the Lady Oakies they advanced to 4-0 on the season and would be traveling to Fort Osage to take on the Indians the very next day.
Oak Park vs Fort Osage (12/7):
Just 24 hours after the Oakies big win they traveled down to Fort Osage in hopes to keep their 4-game winning streak alive. The game started off very slow for the Lady Oakies. They struggled with the full court press of Fort Osage going down 11-0 in the first few minutes. After a time out the girls settled down and get a few transition shots. They battled back to 10-15 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Oakies continued to struggle getting an offense running with Fort Osages quick pressure and found themselves trailing 18-32 heading into half.
All season, the Oakies have been a strong second half team and hoped that to be the case vs the Indians. '22
Lynsie Bishop and '24
Kaylee Coleman hit some clutch jump shots to help get the girls back into the game. After a hard fought third quarter the Oakies again battled back to a 31-39 deficit. In the fourth quarter, the Oakies were able to get some nice defensive stops and transition plays but it just wouldn't be enough as Oak Park ran out of time. The final score was 44-54.

While this was a tough loss for the Lady Oakies it was a great learning experience on how to handle press which will be very beneficial as they head to Raytown South to take on the Lady Cardinals Thursday night.
