Oakies Off to a Fast Start

2-0 to start the season

Game 1 Vs. Winnetonka

 
The Lady Oakies opened the season off strong in the home opener against Winnetonka last Tuesday night. In their first victory of the season underclassman 25' Lili Everley put up the first points of her career, and the rest of her teammates built off this momentum. After the first quarter the Oakies were up 12-3 and handled Tonka's quick pressure very well. Responding to a fast defense from the Lady Griffons, we were able to see the Oakies extended their lead 22-11 with huge contributions from 23' Amari Harris who was consistently scoring in the paint. After a hard-fought half of basketball, the Oakies picked up right where they left off and kept the momentum going. They scored 16 points in the third quarter and only let up 5 points to tonkas quick offense, where they finished the game with a new face to the Oakies basketball team,  '25 Delaney Harbrucker, who came in off the bench and scored a quick 8 points. This performance as a whole lead the team to come out victorious, with a final score of 54-22. '22 Lynsie Bishop was the leading scorer with 11 points in her senior debut and when asked about the game she says " This performance  was a great foundation for our team to build off of and I can't wait to see how much better we become in the near future." With this, the Lady Oakies did just that and performed to a high standard once again vs. Pembrooke Hill.


Game 2 vs. Pembrooke Hill

 
This matchup vs. Pembrooke Hill had a similar outcome in the night, where the winning streak. The game started off slow for both team where the Oakies found themselves down down 4-7 at the end of the first quarter. Shortly after '22 Lynsie Bishop hit a few big threes to get momentum going on both sides of the ball where this became a closer game. but after a rough half the Oakies were still down 18-23 at half time. The start of the third quarter you could see the new fire the Lady Oakies had. '22 Lynsie Bishop continued to score big time threes in transition as well as '22 Rylan Bishop and '23 Lexi Willhoite having some much needed scores in the paint. The Oakies had some great defensive stops and held Pembrooke Hill to only 9 points in the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter the Oakies were now leading 41-32. They continued to get defensive stops as well as running through their offense very well. The Oakies were able to hold on and get the win 54-48. '22 Lynsie Bishop was the leading scorer of the game with 22 points and '22 Rylan Bishop followed close behind with 16 points. The Lady Oakies are now 2-0 and will travel to play Kansas City Central Thursday evening.
 
 

 
 With this great start to the season, the Lady Oakies look to extend their winning streak in their upcoming game vs. Central which will be played at On December 2nd.
