Northmen JV Football Caps Off the Season with a WIN!

Finish the Season 5-3-1 after road trip to Columbia

It was a long trip on a Monday afternoon, but the Northmen did not want to make the trip back without a win.  After witnessing the comeback win the previous Friday night by the Varsity squad in perfect Homecoming fashion, this group of 28 Oak Park Football players had something similar in mind.  The Northmen, coached by Craig Knaak, Greg Sims, and Nick Maysent (Former OP FB Alumni), mounted a 4th quarter comeback of their own, besting the Hickman Kewpies 25-18 in the final few minutes of the game.

That win solidified an already plus .500 season for the Northmen, who end the year 5-3-1, and judging by all accounts, could be the JV squads best season in over a decade.  "It a tremendous sign of growth, and in my eyes, the health of the football program when our lower levels can be competitive and put together wins.  It doesn't surprise me that they have gone out and gotten better each week, those coaches have dedicated themselves to getting those kids ready, and these young men are the same guys putting our Varsity guys to work as our scout team Tuesday-Thursday in preparation for Friday." said Eric Whited, Varsity Offensive Line Coach.

The C-Team (5-3) will wrap up their year traveling to Fort Osage on Thursday 10/25, and Varsity begin Missouri Class 5 District 8 Playoffs traveling to St. Joseph Central on Friday 10/26 @ 7pm.
