Our boys in blue have been off to a hot start. After winning in three consecutive games, the Northmen will be traveling to visit the Truman Patriots for their homecoming match-up.
The Northmen will be looking to keep the positive energy flowing and add on to their impressive win streak. Northmen are coming off of an impressive win over a good Grain Valley team, with great efforts on defense from '23 Karl Knaaks game winning pick and on the offensive side of the ball by '23 Xavier Williams with monster reception for 22 yards.Â
'25 Trayvon Pankey will be bringing his offensive line down to Independence tonight, helping him rush for 330 yards on 34 carries, a 10 yard/carry average for the young Northmen. Signal caller, '24 Aiden Hinkle, will also be looking to get involved after his 37 rush yards and 4/6 with 45 yards in the air. Â
The Oak Park defense has limited opponents to 16 points in 3 weeks. The Charles Pugh lead defense has shown an ability to play big in big moments, and are not giving teams much room for error. Tonight's effort will rest on the defensive line playing sound defense, and getting to the QB when Truman start looking for the big play. It should give the secondary and LB core ample opportunities for a few big turnovers, which will be the difference in this game.
A win this week for the Northmen would be another confidence booster, and add to all time record between these to opponents of 33-9-1. Interestingly enought, the only time the Northmen tied the Patriots 6-6 was when the school opened in 1965. With both teams having won last week this game is going to be high energy. Truman will have the added distraction of a Homecoming game, meaning high stakes for both teams tonight in Oak Park's first Conference match-up of the year!
Show up this Friday ready to cheer on your boys in blue, when they go up against the Truman Patriots. Bring the energy!Â
