Oak Park's offense sparked by the defensive effort of Joe Kimbrough got on the scoreboard first. Grissum broke over from the 2 for the touchdown.
Ed Lance stopped consecutive runs but Chrisman completed a long pass, gave the bears the lead.
Two penalties by Chrisman gave the Big Blue good field position.
Keyed by the running of Tom Dodd, Jack Armstrong and Harold Grissum the Northmen moved down the field. Jack Armstrong skirted left end for the score but again the kick failed.
Tom Dodd ran 78 yards to the Bears 2 and Grissum bullied in for the third score. The extra point failed but the Big Blue held the lead 18-7.
Before half Chrisman struck by way of the long pass and closed the margin to 18-14.
After the half time band show William Chrisman put pressure on Oak Park when they returned the Northmen's first punt to the 24. From there they quickly added the go ahead score. The teams exchanged scores in the fourth quarter with both adding the extra points.
Late in the game a 54 yard pass from Mike Termini to Grissum gave the Northmen the ball at the Chrisman 2. With time running out the Northmen felt sure they could score, what would have been the winning touchdown.
The Bears had other ideas and dug in to preserve the win.
