Oak Park on Saturday, October 30th lined up against the Number 1 team in Kansas, Shawnee-Mission North.
The Indians showing that they deserved their high ranking build an 18-0 lead.
After Oak Park failed to move on their first possession, North quickly scored after a series of sweeps. The extra point kick failed. North scored on its next possession by way of a pass and raised the margin to 12-0.
The Indians accepted the gift of the ball at the Oak Parks 10 by way of a fumble. Running off tackle the score rose to 18-0.
Oak Park accepted an Indian fumble and turned it into a quick score of their own.
A 7 yard pass from Mike Termini to Tom Dodd put up 6 but the extra point kick missed and at half time it was 18-6.
Seeming to gain confidence after half time the Oak Park defense stifled the Indians. Taking advantage of another North fumble Oak Park got their second score. Mike Haliburton took the pass the point.
This closed the gap to 18-13.
Defense by both teams controlled the rest of the game.
Shawnee won 18-13.
