Raytown High School had beaten Northtown Football teams for six straight years. Oak Park vowed to stop that streak.
Oak Park had two opportunities to score against a powerful Raytown Team.
They missed on the first chance but connected the second.
That was enough to pick up the third win of the season.
In the first quarter, the Northmen drove to the Blue Jay's 12 after Bill Armstrong recovered a fumble but were stopped here.
Armstrong provided a second fumble recovery in the second quarter and this time the Big Blue "CASHED IN."
Grissum drove the ball to the 3 and Mike Termini scampered over the middle for the game's only touchdown.
Sophomore Dave Bowen kicked the extra point.
Raytown dominated the second half and Oak Park failed to make a first down. Raytown threatened to score often but each time.
The Northmen defense rose up to stop them. Harold Grissum intercepted a pass to kill the final Raytown trust with seconds to go in the game.
Bill Armstrong had 37 defensive points and 3 fumble recoveries.
