Northmen Face Familiar Foe on Friday

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE FALCONS

The Falcons have a high powered offense that feature a couple of big, fast backs. The team wearing green and black want to maintain their unbeaten win-streak against the Northmen after narrowly getting out of Gladstone wtih a win in week 7. Staley boasts a strong defensive line and very athletic quarterback, no doubt the game will be determined in the trenches on Friday night.  The question for the Falcons tonight, can the offense repeat their success versus this Northmen defense?

THE NORTHMEN OFFENSE

This offense has put up 90 points in the last 3 weeks. There is no doubt this team is hitting on all cylinders right now.  Typically a first half team, the Northmen waited until the beginning of the 2nd half against the Grandview Bulldogs and put up a quick 28 points in impressive fashion.

The offensive line have been just getting better each week, which is to be expected with the youth at this position.  '22 Ian Risner and '22 Juliano Sokoli are the loan senior starters for the Northmen and has been the example all season long.  Don't let their youth be confused with inexperience.  '23 Sharo Mahdi and '23 Wyatt Rueter have been varsity starters for 2 years now and '24 Logan Westling and '25 Jalen Williams are garnering a lot of respect and attention from opposing teams.  Wherever the big guys up front lack, senior '22 KeAndre Braxton makes up.  Braxton, the human bowling ball some call him, is ready for action after missing some time due to injury.

'22 Ty Clemens may have already etched his name in the Oak Park record books throwing for over 1500 yds this season, however, QB1 has something more planned for this Northmen team.  He'll need to find a way to get '23 Marlon Gant, '22 Bubba Bogart and '23 Xavier Williams into the mix early tonight, and take advantage of a defense giving up over 300 yards to opposing offenses.  It's an easy equation for the Northmen tonight, protect the ball and keep the ball moving in the right direction.

THE NORTHMEN DEFENSE

With two big wins in a row, anyone keeping track will notice a much improved Northmen Defense.  What will be curious to see, is if this defense reverts back to the odd front they started the season with now that they are finally getting healthy, or continue rolling the dice with the even front we've seen now the last couple of weeks.  No matter what they surprise Staley with tonight, believe they will be prepared this time around.

This defense is starting to develop an identity, something they lacked in the first quarter of this season. Better late than never, as the new version of this defense is hitting its stride just in the nick of time.  '22 Jett Sutton, '22 Paul Hernandez, '22 Jermaine Harris combined for 31 tackles and 1 interception.  These seniors will need to reproduce these sorts of results this week if they expect to make this the start of long playoff run. '22 Adriano Garcia is the senior leader of the Northmen Defensive Backs has mentioned and has risen to the challenge to stifle the Falcon passing game this go-round.
