Northmen Hit the Road

As the football regular season is winding down, the Oak Park Northmen will face district, Northtown Hornets, for a week 8 match-up.

The Northmen's all time record against the rivaling Hornets is 41-12, although the Northmen have come up short against them in the past two years.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE HORNETS

The Northtown Hornets have had great success with their defense. The Hornets held the Park Hill South panthers to their lowest scoring game of the season in the hornet's recent loss where they fell short with a final score of 7- 0.

THE NORTHMEN OFFENSE

The Northmen will focus on continuing with their established passing game while also including their consistent run game. The Northmen offense plays a big role this week with players '22 Ty Clemens '22 Bubba Bogart , '23 Marlon Gant Jr, '23 Xavier Williams and the recent addition of '25 Travon Pankey in the absence of '22 KeAndre Braxton.

'25 Travon Pankey had one of the longest plays of the season as he broke away for a 64 yard touchdown Friday night. '22 Ty Clemens also had one of his longest completions of the year as he had a 41 yard completion to '24 Aiden Hinkle

All of this of course wouldn't be possible without the strong offensive line, '22 Ian Risner, '23 Sharo Mahdi, '23 Wyatt Rueter , '24 Logan Westling and '25 Jalen Williams. This group of lineman have been holding their own against some tough defenses this year, and will need to do so more than ever this. Upcoming Friday in order for the offense to continue scoring points.

THE NORTHMEN DEFENSE

Keep an eye out for the key players on the Northmen defense. '22 Paul Hernandez, '22 Jett Sutton, '22 Jermaine Harris, and , '23 Karl Knaak and '22 Adriano Garcia, several key players are stepping up for another rivalry week.

These 2 teams are very strong defensively and will bring a lot of looks too this week's game with several D1 athletes on the front line for the Hornets and SS/OLB '22 Jett Sutton who is the main leader of the Northmen defense. After coming off a tough loss to Staley the Northmen look to fix their mistakes.

This week against the Hornets the Northmen will need to rely on the defensive line to control the run. If Oak Park can get this done, it will be put on the backs of the secondary to stop the big plays. Its a great opporunity for the Northmen defense to put these two things together against a quality opponent like the Hornets.
