Northmen Host Hornets in Final Home Game at the DAC

As the football regular season is coming to an end, the Oak Park Northmen will face district rivals, the Northtown Hornets. The Northmen's all time record against the rivaling Hornets is 41-11, although the Northmen have come up short against them in the past two years.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE HORNETS

The Northtown Hornets have had great success with their defense. The Hornets forced 3 interceptions against Tommy Locke and his Lee's Summit Tigers and topped the Tigers with a 35-20 victory.

THE NORTHMEN OFFENSE

The Northmen will focus on continuing with their established run game and their newly recognized passing game. The Northmen offense plays a big role this week with players '22 KeAndre Braxton, '23 Marlon Gant Jr, '21 Logan Willmann, '22 Lucas Oitker, and '22 Ty Clemens.

'22 Ty Clemens and '21 Logan Willmann had one of the longest plays of the season as they connected for a 51 yard touchdown through the air. '22 Ty Clemens also had the longest rush of his High School career with a 71 yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown.

Look out for the strong offensive line, '21 Alijah Manning, '21 Jackson White, '21 Michael Larson, '21 Benjamin Foster, and '23 Wyatt Rueter have been creating issues for opposing defenses all year, a big factor in their offense's success.

THE NORTHMEN DEFENSE

Keep an eye out for the key players on the Northmen defense. '22 Paul Hernandez came up with a huge play against the St. Joe Central Indians sealing the game returning an interception for a touchdown. '21 Kavon Jackson also had a big play with an interception in his own endzone, ending an Indians drive.

In the secondary the Northmen are on the rise.  '21 Ardrace Hughes has accumulated 16 solo tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. Linebacker '21 Nic Hoops currently leads the Northmen in tackles with 50 tackles,(32 solo) and an interception. Hoops is also a great leader on the field.

The silver lining this week is to continue to play through all four quarters. The Northmen look to have a strong run at the end of their season and push their record above the .500 mark.
