Northmen Compete Well at West Platte

3rd Annual Nate Danneman Football Camp

On Friday, August 2nd, Oak Park took a bus of Northmen on their annual end of summer rite-of-passage to West Platte High School to compete one last time at the Nate Danneman Football Camp.  This is a special opportunity for our football team to see a variety of different varsity competition from teams the Northmen would not normally see during the regular season.

"It really tests our young guys because we might see several different fronts and offenses in a matter of a few hours, and it requires those guys to use the techniques we've practiced all summer long and react quickly." Offensive Line Coach Eric Whited.

This football camp is especially important for the Oak Park coaches to evaluate the Sophomore and Junior class as well as the handful of first year seniors.

"This is a day for football, and these kids get a lot of it in a short amount of time,"  said Defensive Coordinator Jake Danneman.  "We are trying to find the guys who are ready to fill spots on Friday Nights."

Oak Park joined several other local teams as well as a few newcomers to this years camp including:

-West Platte
-North Platte
-Mid-Buchanan
-Versailles
-Higginsville
-Plattsburg
-Pembroke Hill

This event concluded the Northmen's Summer schedule and will send them into a mandatory "Dead Week" as declared by the state of Missouri, before coming back on August 12th, the official Start of Fall Sports.

Oak Park will be hosting a Fall Sports Parent Meeting on Sunday August 11th at 6:00pm in the Main Gym.
