Box Score On a night that was predicted to be cold and wet, the weather people got it wrong, and so, they hoped, did the Northmen as the visiting district rival NKC took the field. It was a beautiful night for football, and things started out right for the Northmen when the Oak Park defense lead by #44
Colton Tisthammer forced a fumble on #10 (#28) Clyde Price for the Hornets on their own 30 yardline. #5
Caleb McNeall was right there and pounced on the ball for the recovery.
The Oak Park Offense made quick work of the mistake with short effective runs from #20
Isaiah Simpson, and a nice throw and catch from #4
Blake Bland to tightend #90
Ryan Woodson, and then again from #4
Blake Bland to #44
Colton Tisthammer to get in striking distance. #44
Colton Tisthammer finished off the drive as he took the direct snap and went untouched for the Northmen's first score of the night putting the Northmen on Top 7-0 (Kick Good, #24 Lara).
The Hornets took the next possession 65 yard in 11 plays and eventually scored on a 3 yard run from #10 (#28) Clyde Price. 7-6 (PAT Attempt Missed)
The Oak Park Offense stalled on their second possession and were forced to punt back to NKC. NKC found some mojo and hit two long run plays back to back for the quick score, taking the Hornets to their first lead of the game, 7-14.
The Northmen had an answer for the Hornets and it came in the form of a 36 yard bullet from RB #44
Colton Tisthammer (injured on the play, returned to play after half). Not a team known for passing, #4
Blake Bland hit the Tightend #90
Ryan Woodson in the middle of the field and he thundered into the end zone for the 23 yard completion, Oak Park reclaiming the lead 14-13 (Kick Good, #24 Lara).
That would be the final score and lead for the Northmen on this Friday Night, as they could not contain the three headed running attack of the Hornets who would go on to win the game 14-54.
Oak Park hosts Columbia Hickman next, (10/19) at Oak Park High School for their final regular season game of 2018 and Homecoming!
